ABOUT US

The Green Mountain Opera Festival, now in its 7th year, is truly a unique gem of a festival based in the Mad River Valley (Central Vermont). It has built a reputation such that now it is considered one of New England's premier opera producers.

Sponsored by the Green Mountain Cultural Center [
non-profit 501(c)(3)], the festival presents professional opera productions at the historic Barre Opera House and several performances at other venues in the Mad River Valley. Audience members are warm and extremely enthusiastic including visitors from Montreal, Boston, New York and New Hampshire as well as people from the entire state of Vermont.

Our mission is to enrich the cultural scene of Central Vermont by consistently presenting high quality professional opera productions and concerts. The GMOF also firmly believes in supporting and working with Vermont's vast artistic community.

Every year this festival grows stronger and stronger. We are proud to be a professional company member of Opera America. The main reason for the festival's success is directly linked to the very strong support from its community. A huge thank you goes to all dedicated volunteers and generous donors.

Spanning almost the entire month of June, festival activities include an Emerging Artist Program, free open rehearsals, various concerts both operatic and broadway style, free master classes with renown opera stars and of course a fully staged, costumed opera production accompanied by the Green Mountain Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

We look forward to welcoming you at one of our many events.
