JULIE NESRALLAH, mezzo-soprano

Julie Nesrallah is described by Artistic Director, Timothy Vernon, as “a future supernova". She performs principal roles with leading opera companies, orchestras and renowned ensembles across North America and abroad. Some of her operatic repertoire includes roles such as Isabella in The Italian Girl, the title role in Carmen, The Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Meg Page in Falstaff, and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly.

Miss Nesrallah has also performed with the Montreal Symphony, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Ottawa Symphony, the Laval Symphony, the Kingston Symphony, the Victoria Symphony, the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the Charleston Symphony, L’Orchestre Métropolitain, the Toronto Philharmonia and the Plattsburgh Symphony.

Summer festivals include the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, the Vancouver Chamber Festival, the Huntsville Arts Festival, the Orford Summer Festival, Les Concerts des Iles-du-Bic, the Lanaudière International Music Festival, Nova Scotia’s Musique Royale and the Indian River Summer Music Festival in Prince Edward Island.

Julie has been a recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts emerging artist award. She has also performed for many prestigious festivals and events such as the Canadian Opera Awards, An Evening of Peace for Her Majesty Queen Noor and was invited to sing for Princess Haya in Amman, Jordan, to launch an endowment fund for underprivileged women to study music in Canada. Julie has also been featured in a Bravo TV documentary The Classical Now and is regularly broadcast on NPR & CBC Radio. She was also chosen to film a commercial for Wal-Mart Canada where she sang an aria from the opera Carmen.
